Pulkit Goyal finishes 5th in TIPS Main Event; Padoba wins


One of the major series happening right now in Europe is the TIPS or The Indian Poker Series. The series is conducting its second season now and the highlight of it, the €350 Main Event had attracted a total playing field of 1,417 entries to the felt. Among those, the final 17 players were playing yesterday for the first-place kill shot which included 3 Indians, Pulkit GoyalTarun Goyal and Gaurav Gupta.

Leading the 17 yesterday was Israel’s Kfir Tubi with over 8 million chips. However, he did not convert it into a win. It was another Israeli player Lior-Moshe Padoba who shipped the TIPS Season 2 Main Event title after a 4-way deal. Padoba earned €77,580 (~INR 60.88 Lakhs) as part of the deal and other 3, viz. Israel’s ‘Niko’, Germany’s Dieter Kramar and Israel’s Miky Ernovitz each earned €64,607, €52,744 and €50,929 as their share.

Among the three Indians that were left till the Final Day, acclaimed grinder Pulkit Goyal made headlines and finished a respectable 5th position in the event, earning €31,845 (~INR 24.98 Lakh) as the fifth-place pay-out. Gaurav Gupta finished deep at 11th for €5,348 (~INR 4.19 Lakhs) and Tarun Goyal finished 16th for €3,841 (~INR 3.01 Lakhs).

A total of 143 places were paid in the Main Event and many Indians finished in the money. Those include Sameer Tavanandi (22nd), Avinash Tauro (29th), Satyam Surendra (42nd), Arjanveer Chadha (55th), Sanjay Kandampully (61st), Rahul Kumar (74th), TIPS 2.0 PLO Event winner Ankit Kapoor (118th) and Satyam Raj (121st).

Coming to the best Indian finisher in the Main Event, Pulkit is a regular on Indian felts and his record looks like a shipping yard. He also won a Jeep Compass for topping Spartan IOPC leaderboard last July. He recently finished runner-up in the prestigious 2019 January IOPC SHR. He has now earned himself an enormous amount and will be looking to play some more poker and make spectacular finishes in it, using this awesome addition to his bankroll.

This marks the end of the TIPS 2.0 series held in Kings Resort, Rozvadov, Czech Republic. Many Indians participated in the event and some like Neeraj Jumani won TIPS packages through several Indian poker sites and earned huge returns in the event. It was a successful event that saw some tough competition and ensured entertainment all around.
