Ramesh Rao Thotapalli ships ‘The Joker’ on 9stacks!

Being one of the top poker websites in India, 9stacks (sign-up with code “GUTSHOT”) often hosts major tournaments with big guarantees, sometimes also sending players to international locations through leaderboards and other promotions. Last night too, they hosted something called The Joker INR 20 Lakh GTD and we’re here to report the winner of that tournament.

‘Indian Poker Bakchods’ is a Facebook group created for the strict purpose of fun and trolling, and it was the founder of this group Ramesh Rao Thotapalli who emerged victorious in The Joker last night, beating a competitive field and taking home the top prize of INR 4,80,000 for his efforts.

Each paying the buy-in of INR 5,500, we had a field of 299 entries on 9stacks (sign-up with code “GUTSHOT”) last night, and Thotapalli aka ‘confidence’ took away the biggest prize from the 45 that finished in the money (min-cash INR 10,000), beating Vaibhav Sharma aka ‘WakhraSwagNi’ in heads-up. Sharma had to settle for INR 3,20,000 for finishing as the runner-up.

Gutshot contacted Thotapalli after this victory and he said, “I organised a free ticket giveaway in my Facebook group. I entered the tournament myself with a single bullet and had less than 5 BB’s on more than seven occasions. At the money bubble, I was running 45/45 but somehow managed to chip up and then reached the Final Table 2nd in chips. The only fight was with Vaibhav Sharma. I had one major flip with him QQ > JJ which gave me the chip lead. There was a lot of ICM pressure from Kavish Kukreja (4th) and Vinay B (5th). I held my nerve and shipped it outright without a deal.”

The player was overwhelmed after this victory and also gave a shout out to a few people, saying, “I would like to thank Danish Shaikh, Irshad Chaudhary and Prabhat Mukherjea for always standing behind me. And also, special thanks to Pratik Kumar of 9stacks for organizing such a high-value tournament.”

This particular Sunday tournament lasted for 8 and a half hours and you can get all similar live and online poker tournament updates on GutshotMagazine.com, so stay tuned for more…
