The India Online Poker Championship (IOPC) is on in full swing at The Spartan Poker, with a record-breaking INR 7+ crore in guaranteed prizes on offer. Yesterday was Day 4 of India’s biggest online poker tournament series and five tournaments were played during the day, out of the total schedule of 55 tournaments.
While one Rohit Sharma is busy scoring century after century for India in England, the other Rohit Sharma is busy shipping title after title on The Spartan Poker. Just last week, Rohit Sharma aka ‘SFTBNIAH’ won Tuesday’s Mega Stack on Spartan. This time, he attacked Monday’s featured tournament called Mega Freeze.
IOPC Event #20 Mega Freeze INR 15 Lac GTD (6600 RE) started at 7:30pm IST and Sharma added a lot more to his poker bankroll by shipping the tournament and taking home a handsome prize of INR 3,17,250 for first place. He beat a field of 224 entries to take home the biggest share of the INR 15 lakh prize pool.
Last week, Sharma told us about how he planned on doing well in the upcoming IOPC series and he has indeed done well so far. He also spoke about his introduction to poker, how he improved at the game, and what his future plans in the game are. You can read that full interview here.
The INR 6,600 buy-in tournament saw the first 31 players being paid out a minimum prize of INR 13,200. Sharma would be mighty proud of himself as he beat Nikhil Ramesh aka ‘rn275’ in heads-up, who won the third tournament of this IOPC, then shipped the signature tournament called the Millionaire and now finished runners-up here, for INR 2,13,600. He has given himself a big lead on the IOPC Leaderboard, where a Jeep Compass and other exciting prizes are for grabs.
