One of the companies helming the online poker industry in India is the well-established Kolkata-based PokerBaazi. They have in-depth knowledge about the industry and it shows in their promotions, tournaments and series. Their Baazi Rewards Program is one of the highlight promotions of the industry and is very popular in the scene.
They also host daily high-stakes feature tournaments on their site. Monday’s feature tournament The Bout INR 10 Lakhs GTD is one of them and it attracts a decent crowd every week with sizeable prizes being awarded to the winners.
Last night’s Bout also attracted a good entry field and from them a total of 19 top places were paid. The INR 4,400 buy-in tournament began at 8 pm on PokerBaazi. The winner to emerge from this grind was Sagar Choudhury aka ‘sagarpupul’, taking home a big figure of INR 2,25,000 as 1st place cash prize. He beat ‘Ayansh2017’ in heads-up to bag his title and cash prize. The runner-up had to settle for INR 1,62,500, not a bad amount at all.
The Final Table action saw tough competition, with the likes of Sumit Sapra (‘boronyx’), Sahil Mahboobani (‘ImHighIshove’), Shardul Parthasarathi (‘duuurrrr’) and Mihir Thakkar (‘mihirparv’) featuring on the table. Thakkar, after winning the BSS SuperStack on PokerBaazi just a night ago, finished 8th in yesterday’s Bout for INR 32,500. Parthasarathi, another well-known regular in the circuit, finished 6th for INR 49,000. Mahboobani and Sapra finished 4th and 3rd for INR 1 Lakh and INR 1.25 Lakhs respectively. Sapra saw a successful last week too, emerging victorious in Sparan’s DareDevil on Saturday, 29th December.
The champion of yesterday though, Choudhury, has cashed out plenty of times in the past. He won one of Spartan Super Series events just a couple months ago. Gutshot got in touch with him after his win and he said, “This win holds a special place since I am a very bad heads-up player. The Final Table was a tough one with Sahil (Mahboobani) and Sumit (Sapra) remaining in the top 4. It’s always about winning a flip against them since both of them have solid understanding of the game post flop. The strategy was to push fold against them with less than 20 big blinds and luckily my 8-8 held against A-6 off-suit of Sumit when 3 players were remaining. It feels good to win a tourney on the first day of the year. Hopefully the good run will continue.”
Today’s feature tournament on PokerBaazi is the Endeavour INR 12 Lakhs GTD, which also is one of the ever-popular tournaments hosted on the platform, with a lot of enthusiastic poker players signing up for it.
