Sahil Mahboobani wins Destiny again; this time in IOPC!

Four days of intense poker action at the virtual felts of Spartan Poker and all four days have seen 5 tournaments each being contested. These tournaments are part of the ongoing India Online Poker Championship (IOPC) which guarantees a record-breaking INR 11+ Crore in prize money while also giving away a swanky new luxury MG Hector car to the IOPC Leaderboard winner.

After IOPC Day 4, ‘muck_you’ is currently in the lead on the IOPC Leaderboard with two titles thus far. IOPC Destiny was the featured event yesterday and that was taken down by Sahil Mahboobani while another known title winner on the day was Vikram Freeman. Keep reading for our complete summary of yesterday’s IOPC Day 4…

IOPC Event #16 INR 3 Lakh GTD

‘muck_you’ has made a brilliant start to this major online poker series on Spartan Poker, winning a tournament on Day 2 and now, adding to his title list on IOPC Day 4. This tournament saw a total field of 906 entries that each paid the buy-in of INR 550 and by the end of the registration period, we had another guarantee crushed and a fresh new prize pool of INR 4.53 Lakh. The top 63 players were paid out a minimum of INR 1,970 each but the player to take home the biggest prize of all was muck_you who pocketed INR 87,655 for this victory. Not just that, he is also on top of the IOPC Leaderboard at the moment, clear of the rest of the competition. In this tournament, he beat ‘iamlucknuts’ who also missed his second title of the series, bagging INR 55,266 here.

IOPC Event #17 INR 2.5 Lakh GTD

Every entry participating in this tournament had to pay INR 660 to enter and by the end of the registration period, we had 615 entries in all, taking the prize pool up to INR 3,69,000. Eventually, this was shared by the top 39 finishers of the night, each bagging a minimum cash prize of INR 2,546 each. However, the payer to overcome this complete field and bag the top prize of the tournament was ‘I will win’, who pocketed INR 73,984 for this effort, including a prestigious IOPC title. In heads-up, he beat ‘SandeeSingh’ who had to settle for the runner-up prize of INR 49,187 after Tens and Sixes beat a pair of Tens in the final hand.

IOPC Event #18 INR 2 Lakh GTD

The re-entry tournament had a buy-in of INR 550 and ‘Netflixxed’ beat the massive field of 634 entries, which once again passed the advertised guarantee and created a fresh prize pool of INR 3,17,000. From them, just the top 47 players were paid out, each receiving a min-cash of INR 1,806. As for Netflixxed, he beat the field and ‘yomamafat’ in heads-up to bag the biggest prize of INR 61,783. The final hand saw a 3-bet all-in from Netflixxed who revealed Qs As against his opponent’s Ac Jh. The board of Qc 3s 4h Kh 3c gave Netflixxed Queens and Threes and an IOPC title, while yomamafat had to settle for INR 39,244 for finishing second.

IOPC Event #19 Destiny INR 25 Lakh GTD

The participation received in Destiny last night was outstanding, even though it has a high buy-in of INR 5,500 attached to it. This weekly tournament is one of Spartan Poker’s most popular one and you can see that here itself with the field of 759 entries that joined the competition. Packed with top pros from around the country, it was always going to be a tough fight and the player to emerge as winner was Sahil Mahboobani aka ‘HomelessOnWiFi’. The player has a number of previous online and live poker achievements and it’s not the first time he’s won Destiny either, bagging the tournament once before in May this year, and then winning the Finale as well in June. Last night however was a much bigger occasion, with the prize pool rising all the way up to INR 37,95,000 and the top 60 players receiving INR 15,180 each. In heads-up, Mahboobani beat ‘I Fold’ and the former received a massive pay-out of INR 9,86,700 for this win. As for the runner-up, he would have to stay content with the runner-up prize of INR 6,07,200. Another massive name in the competition was Abhinav Iyer aka ‘Schumi91’ who finished 14th here, fresh off becoming India’s third-ever WSOP gold bracelet winner in Las Vegas a couple of days ago!

IOPC Event #20 Hi-Fi INR 12 Lakh GTD

The day concluded with the popular Hi-Fi tournament as it does each day on Spartan Poker. This tournament always does well, and it did last night too, attracting 565 entries and smashing the guarantee once again, even though the buy-in was increased to INR 3,300. INR 16.95 Lakh was the resultant new prize pool and eventually, the top 47 players shared the spoils, each being paid out a minimum cash prize of INR 9,661. By the time the tournament reached its business end, there were a few known pros in contention but the player to take down the title was Vikram Freeman aka ‘7freeman’ who added INR 3,30,355 to his poker bankroll. The event ended at 5:20am this morning after a grind of 7+ hours and in heads-up, it was Sagar Choudhury aka ‘terikehkelunga’ who ended on the losing side. However, he was still paid out a decent amount of INR 2,09,841 for this run.
