Shivam Khanna ends good day by shipping Adda52’s Whale

On some days, you just know you can do nothing wrong. For online poker player Shivam Khanna, that day was yesterday. He began the day with a couple of deep runs in afternoon tournaments on PokerStars and then also shipping their Big 500 tournament for INR 8,862, where he plays under the name ‘shivitzz’.

He then turned to the Friday night grind across all the major Indian platforms, cashing out in 87th place in the PokerBaazi PPL edition of the Value Town tournament under the name ‘nutty_boy’, followed by a deep run in Spartan’s Triple Bubble tournament, where he finished 6th for INR 60,210 under the name ‘Ozzy’.

His biggest win however, came later on in the night on Adda52. Here, he plays under the screen name ‘shivamkhanna’ and after a couple of cashes in Chip Up series tournaments, he decided to give it a go in the Whale 6-Max tournament as well, where a total of 191 entries registered to the INR 7,500 tournament.

The 8pm kick off tournament went on till 4:51am this morning, ending a grind of nearly 9 hours. Here, Khanna outlasted some of India’s bets players and shipped the tournament for a whopping prize amount of INR 4,27,500, ending a brilliant night in online poker for the player.

In heads-up, he beat ‘offQbert45’, who had to settle for the runner-up position, taking away a pretty decent prize of INR 2,70,000 himself. A total of 5 players ended with 6-figure scores and another well-known Adda52 player finishing in the money was Siddarth Singhvi aka ‘badtameez_donk’, who won INR 82,500 for finishing in 6th place.

Gutshot caught up with Khanna after this big victory on Adda52 earlier this morning. The player gave us a little background, saying “I am playing poker for the last 11 years. As I’m into the business of garment export, I don’t get time to play these kinds of tournaments due to my hectic schedule. It was Dussehra yesterday, so I got the perfect opportunity to play my kind of poker and manage to cash many tournaments. I intend to accommodate more time to play these tournaments.”

He spoke about yesterday’s tournament too, saying, “I had a great experience playing on Adda52 and loved the software. Winning the Whale was really encouraging and amazing as it was a very long and tiring tournament. The Final Table was difficult, and heads-up was nose bleeding. Heads up, my opponent had 3/4 chips in play at one point. I kept my cool as I knew that one hand could change the game and therefore, was just waiting for that very hand. Winning Whale after playing hardcore poker for 9 hours taught me one thing, that you need patience to win a tournament like this.”
