Every Sunday, 9stacks (sign-up with code “GUTSHOT”) hosts something called Sunday Stacks which also happens to be their highest value weekly tournament. Every Sunday, some of India’s most talented players pay the INR 5,500 buy-in amount each to participate in this tournament and yesterday was no exception.
A total of 270 entries (including 56 re-buys) joined the tournament last evening and the guarantee was missed by a little bit. Eventually, the INR 15 Lakh GTD prize pool was distributed among the top 49 players with the minimum cash prize fixed at INR 10,500 which was nearly double the buy-in.
9stacks regulars who managed to find a finish in the money last night included Arsh Grover (46th), Ashish Ahuja (40th), Mayank Jaggi (30th), Shravan Chhabria (27th), Sam Anand (25th), Gaurav Sood (24th), Rubin Labroo (16th), Neel Joshi (10th), Rajat Sharma (9th) and many others.
The FT was a relatively soft one and that would’ve helped Siddharth Karia aka ‘Schemer77’ who went on to become the champion of the night. By 3:14am this morning, he wrapped up proceedings by beating ‘Uttaml’ in heads-up. Karia walked away with the top prize of INR 2,92,500 while the runner-up pocketed a decent prize of INR 1,91,250.
Finishing 3rd was Sandeep Varma aka ‘effuno’ who fired 6 bullets to bag a prize of INR 1,32,750. Talking about the tournament and the overall experience on 9stacks last night, Karia said, “I’m very happy with the structure, as it gave enough opportunities to the players to come back from bad positions. Cheers.”
Karia has been playing online poker since quite a while now and has won quite a few major titles in the past, but this one on 9stacks would be a welcome win for him, coming after quite a while.
