SSS Day 4: Kumar, Chadha, Shukla, Dilawar & Chawla win big

The competition is only getting tougher as we reach the business stages of the December edition of the Spartan Super Series (SSS) on The Spartan Poker. Yesterday was Day 4 of the tournament and eventually, we had five different winners across the five tournaments, including Abinash KumarArjanveer ChadhaRajesh Kumar ShuklaChandan Dilawar and Dhiraj Chawla.

Here’s a run through on what went down on SSS Day 4 on Spartan:

SSS Event #17 INR 150k GTD

The first tournament of the day had a buy-in of INR 550 and here, 187 players registered with the top 24 getting paid out a min-cash of INR 1,500 each. With plenty of bigger tournaments lined up for the rest of the day, the best pros were not all a part of this tournament which gave a new winner the chance to shine. Here, it was Abinash Kumar aka ‘QueenNine’ who emerged victorious, winning INR 34,500 after beating ‘avadhootlad’ in heads-up, who won INR 23,175. When Gutshot contacted the player after this victory, he spoke about the tournament saying, “It was a hard-fought roller-coaster ride which ended in a win, and also did the job of a confidence booster.”

SSS Event #18 INR 2.25 Lakh GTD

The buy-in rose slightly to INR 990 for SS Day 4’s second tournament. Here, Arjanveer Chadha aka ‘instrumental’ emerged victorious from among the overall field of 184 players, which passed the guarantee and created a new prize pool of INR 2.62 lakh. Winning such tournaments is nothing new for Chadha, having won another title just the previous night on Spartan. He added INR 58,210 to his bankroll with this win, beating ‘Balleballe’ in heads-up, who won INR 39,289.

SSS Event #19 INR 200k GTD

This re-entry tournament had a buy-in of INR 660 and it attracted a field of 177 players, with only the top 24 being paid out, each taking away a minimum cash prize of INR 2,000. Winning the tournament was none other than Rajesh Kumar Shukla aka ‘macchi_fry’ who is no newbie to winning SSS tournaments on The Spartan Poker. Here, he outlasted the field to take home INR 46,000 in prize money, beating ‘Brat’ in heads-up, who won INR 24,450 for finishing second. Jacks and Eight triumphed over Tens and Eights in the final hand of the tournament.

SSS Event #20 Warm-up INR 10 Lakh GTD

As the name suggests, this tournament was indeed a warm up to the SSS Main Event which will be contested later today. 198 players each paid the INR 4,400 entry fee (plus re-entries) and this bumped up the prize pool to INR 12,12,000, with more to win for everyone. Eventually, the top 27 players were paid out a min-cash of INR 12,120 and from them, Chandan Dilawar aka ‘JonTCD’ emerged victorious. Dilawar shipped the tournament beating a very decent field and he was handsomely rewarded for doing so, taking away INR 2,68,458 in prize money. In heads-up, he beat ‘OathBreaker’ who was also rewarded well, winning INR 1.8+ lakh for finishing second.

Now if you remember right, you will know that DIlawar is not new to winning big on Spartan. He’s among that elite group of players who have won The Millionaire on Spartan, shipping the September edition for a whopping INR 25 lakh prize. For this, he was also felicitated at the recent second edition of the IPC Awards in Mumbai.

SSS Event #21 INR 400k GTD

All of the 258 players who played in the final tournament paid INR 1,100 as the entry fee, along with re-entries costing the same. The prize pool was slightly passed and eventually, it was shared among the top 36 players, winning a minimum of INR 2,659 each. Powering through the field was Dhiraj Chawla aka ‘rockysingh’ who would’ve celebrated at the end of the night, adding INR 81,800 to his poker bankroll, after beating ‘darthbane’ in heads-up. The final hand saw both players hitting Aces and Nines, but Chawla winning with a higher kicker, King.
