SSS Day 7: Utsav Taneja, Bhavin Jungi among title winners


The Spartan Super Series (SSS) halted after hosting 42 varying tournaments on Spartan Poker concluding its week-long extravaganza. This mid/high-stakes series guaranteed massive prizes, luring multiple players and crowning various titles. Yesterday saw the 7th day of SSS series with another six tournaments lined up. Following is a complete summary of SSS Day 7

SSS Event #37 INR 1.30 Lakhs GTD

The first tournament of the final day kicked-off with a pretty good field of 441 entries for a buy-in of INR 330. Eventually, the guarantee was surpassed, generating a bigger prize pool of INR 1.32 Lakh and the top 39 places ended in the money. Taking away the lion’s share was Bhavin Jungi aka ‘NA@Gaming’ triumphed the tournament after sending out ‘whodahellru1’ in the runner-up position.

In level 30, Jungi with 1 million chips up against ‘whodahellru1’ with 348k chips. The players drew their respective blinds and pre-flop saw former raise 24k followed by a re-raise of 66k from the latter. Once again, a raise from Jungi and the next step found the entire stack of his opponent in the middle. Jungi secured a pair on flop 9h 7d Jd. The turn and river 3d and 6d came up empty for ‘whodahellru’ and that’s when the Jungi showed his pair of Nines and took away the first title on the final day of SSS.

SSS #38 Afternoon Showdown INR 5 Lakhs GTD

The Afternoon Showdown is reserved for the second tournament of the day. Attracting 251 players for a buy-in of INR 2,200, which led to the guarantee being surpassed. A slightly bigger prize pool was created, and the top 20 players received a paycheck of min-cash INR 6,726. The last man standing was ‘SANDYINC.’ riding his way to top the list and making a great addition into his poker bankroll after eliminating ’44 is nuts’ in heads-up.

In the final hand of the tournament, both players drew their respective blinds and ‘SANDYINC.’ held As 7s against ’44 is nuts’ with Kc Qs who put his entire stack in the middle and got a call from the former. The board runs 5s 3c 6c 3d Jc, and ‘SANDYINC.’ collects the pot for winning with pair of three and Ace kicker.

SSS #39 Electric Afternoon Hi-Fi INR 3 Lakhs GTD

Observing a field of 372 entries and buy-in of INR 1,100. It was a leading player in the circuit Utsav Taneja aka ‘CAseK’ who shipped the tournament after eliminating Amod Kelkar aka ‘Amod’ in heads-up. The top 27 players walked out with a portion of prize pool INR 3.72 Lakhs. Taneja pocketed the winner’s amount after flipping his two pairs of Twos and Fives over his opponent’s single pair of Twos.

SSS Event #40 Sunday SuperStack INR 40 Lakhs GTD

Spartan Poker hosts Sunday SuperStack reserved for each Sunday at 8 pm sharp. The grand event with the biggest guarantee on the final day enticing a massive field of 789 entries for a buy-in of INR 5,500. The top 79 places were paid out, a slice form the prize pool. Outlasting this field was an anonymous yet an online regular ‘Hit ‘Em Up’ beating his opponent ‘jailakshmi’ in heads-up.

In level 58, ‘Hit ‘Em Up’ (Ks Jh) had 14 million chips up against ‘jailakshmi’ (Th Qh) with 5 million chips. The former moves all-in followed by the latter. Eventually, ‘Hit ‘Em Up’ finds a pair on board As 6h Kc Ts 3h, and shows his KK over his opponent’s TT. To read more on Sunday SuperStack, click here.

SSS Event #41 Electric Big Daddy INR 6 Lakhs GTD

The 41st event observed 435 players joining for a buy-in of INR 1,650. A higher prize pool of INR 6.52 Lakhs was created which was later distributed among 39 places for a min-cash of INR 4,502. Powering through the field was ‘desithug007’ who grabbed the first-place prize money and eventually the tournament ended with a heads-up deal. The anonymous player, ‘desithug007’ accumulated a larger stack of 2.29 million and became the official champion of the night pushing away ‘foxface’ in the runner-up position.

SSS – The Millionaire

Spartan Poker’s SSS Millionaire INR 1.5 Crore GTD wrapped up Day 1C with another 577 entries for a buy-in of INR 11,000. Amassing the largest stack was ‘Blackcod’ with 2,09,138 followed by ‘crazy_coyote’ in the second-place bagging 2,20,218 chips.

The entire tournament observed a total number of 1,346 players out of which only 170 could progress to Day 2 which concluded last night. The competition was led by the Day 1A chip leader ‘propernit’. The cards and chips remained in the air for over 5 plus hours, after all, the tournament saw the last man standing, the star performer and the Millionaire, Pulkit Goyal triumphing the night and adding another feather to his illustrious poker career. Goyal railed out Vaibhav Sharma aka ‘Nikka Zaildar’ in heads-up.

In level 28 of the tournament, Goyal had 12 million with 8c Jc up against Sharma with 3 million chips and 9d 7s. Flop 7c 4h 2c, Sharma checks while Goyal hoping for a flush bet 160k watching Sharma bet 481k. Finally, the board saw the entire stack of both the players in the middle. With turn Th and ultimately Qc on the river, Goyal flips his flush over Sharma’s pair of Sevens, taking home the enormous sum of prize money.
