When you think of one of the most prestigious tournaments in the NFL, you think of the Super Bowl, but when you think of one of the biggest tournaments in poker, you think of the Super High Roller Bowl. This is a tournament that has a very expensive buy-in but similarly, pays out very, very big amounts to those who reach the money.
The tournament is an annual one and so far, four successful editions of the Super High Roller Bowl have been held at the Aria in Las Vegas, including Justin Bonomo winning the 2018 SHRB. The first edition had a $500k buy-in, but all succeeding events had buy-ins of $300k.
Here’s a list of all winners of the SHRB:
However, Super High Roller Bowl V will not be taking place in May 2019, as it usually does just before the World Series begins each year. In fact, the tournament has now been shifted to December, not just for this edition but for all future editions. Poker Central confirmed that it will take place this year between 17-19 December 2018.
The tournament format will however stay the same, with a 48-player cap being set and a $14.4 million prize pool with $5 million going to the winner, along with an SHRB championship ring. Players wishing to participate must make a $30,000 deposit by 26 November and from these players, 25 will be selected via lottery, 18 reserved for ARIA VIP guests and 5 to the top players on the High Roller of the Year leaderboard.
“In its first five years of existence, Super High Roller Bowl has grown into one of the most exclusive and highly coveted poker championships in the world as the pinnacle of the High Roller Triple Crown. We’re proud to celebrate that milestone in December, as we implement changes that will continue the success of the event for many years to come,” said Sam Simmons, Content VP at Poker Central.
