Tuesday nights on Spartan Poker means Mega Stack INR 15 Lakh GTD is played out on the platform and the popularity of this tournament meant its guarantee was recently bumped up as well. Still, the participation was good enough to pass the guarantee and record a new prize pool of INR 15.87 Lakh last night.
With a buy-in of INR 3,300, 529 entries registered to the tournament and from them, only the top 47 were rewarded, each picking up a minimum prize of INR 9,045. However, the biggest catch of the night went to Thirtha Patil aka ‘Taxed’ who beat the entire field to grab the first place and also the top prize of INR 3,09,306.
Yesterday was one of those days where the field had quite a few pros but the last few stages and the Final Table didn’t have a lot of Spartan Poker regulars. Quite a few unknown names reached the final stages and eventually, Patil emerged victorious beating ‘nawazawaz’ in heads-up. The runner-up bagged INR 1,96,470 for his deep run so he wouldn’t be too disappointed either.
Patil is a professional musician who goes by the stage name DJ TT and who knows, one day he may even consider becoming a professional poker player. Here in the final hand, DJ TT played his pocket Nines cool even though he hit a set on the As 4s 9h flop. It went check-check followed by a 352k bet on the Qs turn card which was called by his opponent who held Ts 6s and completed an Ace-high flush. nawazawaz would’ve been delighted with his hand and he shoved all-in on the Ad river card, but Patil happily made the call having completed a Full House.
We spoke to the winner after he shipped his first major on Spartan Poker and he said, “I was at at the edge of my seat as this is my first online win ever. I really have to thank Rishi BN for helping me get here and teaching me everything about the game. It was an amazing tournament and thank you Spartan. Woohoo!!”
