It was a crucial Thursday in the lives of poker players of the country as Spartan Poker’s India Online Poker Championship (IOPC) July 2020 kicked off a promising INR 25 Crore, a massive series that has never been hosted in the country ever before. The Thursday flagship tourney of Spartan Poker IOPC #5 Ultron INR 35 Lakhs GTD crowned the champion after 9+ hours of grinding session. The event drew a massive field of 1,048 entries smashing the advertised guarantee and producing a prize pool worth INR 41.92 Lakhs. The top 103 players finished in the money. Racing ahead of the rest to seal the prestigious title was Anurag Sangahi aka ‘Sangahi’ who knocked out ‘GODSENT’ in heads-up claiming his first IOPC event!
Once again, Anish Suri aka ‘anishsuri’ conquered the field and took down IOPC #6 INR 15 Lakhs GTD on Spartan Poker. It was only Wednesday that the champion triumphed PMVS Event #1 which clearly wasn’t enough that last night Suri conquered a field of 715 entries! The top 63 players grabbed a share from INR 21.45 Lakh prize pool. His opponent Zarvan Tumboli aka ‘BolAuntyAuKya’ settled in the runner-up position followed by ‘Armitrage’ in the third place.
Day 2 of PokerBaazi Monthly Value Series and INR 3 Lakh GTD PMVS #6 attracted 235 entries for INR 1,650 buy-in. The last man standing was Rony Chowdhary aka ‘bisadip176’ who added the first-place prize money of INR 82.9K to his poker wallet after defeating ‘bababakchod’ in heads-up. The top 27 players walked out with a min-cash and the latter settled in the runner-up position for INR 58.2K.
The perfect combination – PMVS and PokerBaazi‘s Thursday flagship offered INR 20 Lakhs GTD in PMVS #8 HR Summit. The INR 8,250 buy-in event was played out amid 295 entries and the tournament could muster INR 22.13 Lakhs. Making the most of the prize pool was Sriharsha Doddapaneni aka ‘Ivey2’ who defeated Sumit Sapra aka ‘boronyx’ in heads-up and pocketed INR 4.89 Lakhs in prize money. Sapra took home a runner-up payday worth INR 3.43 Lakhs.
With INR 3,300 a total of 300 runners took their seats to crush PMVS #9 MegaStack INR 10 Lakh GTD on PokerBaazi. Online reg Sandy Lamba aka ‘Ziigmund’ was the last player standing after outlasting ‘namsbohra’ in heads-up. The top 36 players were assured payouts and Lamba seized the biggest slice of prize money INR 2.21 Lakhs while his opponent grabbed INR 1.55 Lakh for finishing second and Aditya Kulkarni aka ‘adit11’ banked INR 99,700 for third place.
At 9:30 pm last night, Adda52 hosted AOPS PLO Highroller INR 20 Lakhs GTD which clocked in 132 entries for INR 15K buy-in. Topping the field to walk away with the top prize of INR 4.99 Lakhs was Gaurav Sharma aka ‘Dealer11’. Only 13 players ended up earning a minimum payout of INR 40K each. Settling in the runner-up position was Chirag Sodha aka ‘cs56’ who banked INR 4.10 Lakhs.
PokerStars India hosted Thursday marquee Highroller INR 15 Lakhs GTD which logged in 185 runners. Out of this number the top 31 finished in the money securing INR 14K at least. Taking down the event was popular circuit grinder Ashish Ahuja aka ‘Spewushhhiiiii’ who captured INR 2.98 Lakhs in top prize after defeating Ujjwal Narwal aka ‘CougarHunter69’ in heads-up. The latter managed to take home INR 2.22 Lakhs for his efforts!
