Timothy Adams wins inaugural Super High Roller Bowl Australia!

After a seven-day long Australian Poker Open, the Super High Roller Bowl touched the Australian ground for the very first time after already having a few runs in Las Vegas, China, London, and the Bahamas. And Canadian player Timothy Adams has been crowned the latest champion at The Star Gold Coast in Queensland pocketing a hefty A$2 million!

The A$250,000 event held in partnership with World Poker Tour (WPT) attracted a rather small but absolute elite field of 16 entrants including the recent APO Champion Stephen Chidwick, Alex Foxen, Mikita Badziakouski and so on. Day 1 was dominated by the US poker pro Elio Fox who entered the final table with 1.37 million chips followed by Kahle Burns second in the list with 951k chips and Adams with a stack of 739k, rounding up the trio.

The showdown began with the chip in-charge Fox being the first casualty of the tournament, unable to dominate Burns’ straight, resting in the 5th position. His next target was Aaron Van Blarcum whose two pair was defeated by Burn’s flush, bringing the bubble to an end with each player assured to take home A$640,000.

Burns held the chip lead with 2.5 million to Adam’s 1.1 million and short-stacked SHRB London winner Cary Katz with 368,000 chips who was next to depart, putting his entire stack in the middle with King and Deuce up against Adam’s Eight Ten. A ten on the flop and Katz waiting for a gutshot was unable to fill the gap and finished in 3rd place.

Burns entered heads-up with the largest stack against Adam. It took 3 hours for the tournament to halt. Burns shoving from the button with QJ and Adams called with A9. Adams hit the Ace on the flop and had Burns drawing dead, when he made two pair on the turn, making Adams the first-ever SHRB Australia Champion for an incredible AU$2,160,000, his third-largest career win.

Final Table Payout:

  1. Timothy Adams – $1,447558
  2. Kahle Burns – $804,199
  3. Cary Katz – $428,906

“There is a tonne of prestige to winning a tournament like this,” Adams said. “It makes it extra nice and I’m really pleased right now.” The champion has been a regular on the high roller circuit for years, and his total live earnings is now over $20.6 million which moves him to 26th on the All-Time Money List ahead of Adrian Mateos.

“Ultimately my goal is just to win money and set myself up for my future,” he continued, “If you’re doing well on the All Time Money List it might correlate to having more money. With big buy-ins, come big cashes, so a lot of that can be misleading. I’m happy to make as much as I can, and then at the same time move up leaderboards. My main focus is to make money.” For latest updates on poker news and tournaments around the world, keep reading GutshotMagazine.com and stay tuned!
