For many drinking the night away on New Year’s Eve might have been the best way to say goodbye to the roller coaster year. Whether it was poker players who were celebrating their big wins or people who were ready to party, everyone was prepared to thoroughly enjoy themselves. But on the other side of partying hard is a mind-splitting hangover which hits you the next day. So, here are some tips that will help you get rid of it.
One reason for a bad hangover is that your body is dehydrated and low on vitamins. To help combat this, drink a glass of water as soon as you wake up. You also need to stay hydrated throughout the day, so make sure you’re sipping water every now and then. Coconut water is also an effective option.
Although we did say that you must consume lots of fluids, coffee does not count. Caffeine is not something you want in your body if you are trying to cure a massive hangover. It will just worsen your nausea and further dehydrate your body. You can instead opt for tea but focus more on herbal teas like green tea, lemon tea, etc. Don’t even think of having a ‘cutting chai’ or anything on similar lines.
Do not skip breakfast even if you think not having it could help. Remember, your body is recovering and will need all the nutrients to get back on track. Start with a light breakfast like having a whole wheat toast or an avocado toast. You can also eat eggs as they are a good source of protein and will boost your energy levels.
Bananas are known to provide the body with potassium. Due to dehydration the body loses important minerals like potassium and vitamin B. Eating bananas will surely help boost your potassium requirement.
There is a prevailing myth that drinking more will help you cure or forget about a hangover, but this is untrue. Drinking more will only make it worst. So steer clear of this myth and you should be fine.
