Tuesday Roundup: Ahuja, Taneja, Singh claim flagship events!


Tuesday flagships offered relatively bigger guarantees in comparison to a rather slow Monday. The action picked up across the major online platforms. Spartan Poker’s Mega Stack assured INR 20 Lakhs, Endeavour on PokerBaazi exhibited 15 Lakhs in prize money, and Adda52’s Hitman gave away INR 7.5 Lakhs GTD among the bigger events last night. So, let’s take a quick tour of Tuesday majors…

Mega Stack

Tuesday is reserved for Mega Stack INR 20 Lakhs GTD on Spartan Poker and last night attracted a total of 716 entries with each one paying INR 3,300. The tournament blew past its advertised guarantee to collect INR 21.48 Lakhs in prize pool. Racing ahead of the rest was a well-known figure in the industry Ashish Ahuja aka ‘Spewushhhiiiii’ claimed the winner’s title along with the prize money. Ahuja defeated ‘kracker’ in heads-up sending him to the runner-up position.

By the time the competition reached Level 53, Ahuja amassed 11 million chips up against ‘kracker’ with 2.68 million chips. Ahuja and his opponent put their entire stack in the middle with Q♥ 3♥ and A♦ 7♥, respectively in the final hand. The board immediately opened Q♣ 3♣ J♣ 6♣ Q♠ and that’s when Ahuja knocked out ‘kracker’ with his full house QQQ33. The winner has been making deep runs this year and is also recorded to have triumphed the 2020 BPT 10k Kick Off event.

Money reached the top 71 places including Gaurav Sood aka ‘mozzie17’ (3rd), Rajat Sharma aka ‘Garammasala’ (8th), Lakshpal Singh aka ‘Lucky Bhai$’ (11th), Manish Lakhotia aka ‘thekid’ (16th), Naren Purohit aka ‘IMUNAGI’ (19th), Anant Purohit aka ‘Pro’ (20th), Neel Joshi aka ‘Worm33’ (25th), Ayan Ray aka ‘interlalia_1’ (32nd), Anuj Yadav aka ‘moZart’ (43rd) and so on.

The Endeavour

PokerBaazi’s headlining tournament The Endeavour INR 15 Lakhs GTD pulled out 480 entrants after paying INR 3,850 individually. This number easily rode past its offered guarantee creating INR 16.80 Lakhs in prize pool. Circuit regular Utsav Taneja aka ‘ranny006’ trounced the competition and defeated ‘KOH15’ in heads-up to pocket the winner’s cheque of INR 3.37 Lakhs. The latter settled in the second position for INR 2.36 Lakhs.

Other notable players earning a slice from the final prize pool include Gurpal Singh aka ‘roothless’ (5th), Nadeem Basha aka ‘SpadeHunter’ (6th), Vinayak Bajaj aka ‘salmanbhai’ (9th), Sandeep Varma aka ‘effuno’ (14th), Anjali Kochhar aka ‘Smoothie12’ (26th), Sahil Mahboobani aka ‘ImHighIshove’ (32nd), Anuj Yadav aka ‘brockLesnar95’ (54th) and others.

Hitman

A total of 265 runners registered for INR 4,500 in Hitman INR 7.5 Lakhs GTD on Adda52 last night. The tournament that began at 8 pm continued until 2:31 am and eventually saw Gurpal Singh aka ‘gurpal83’ emerging victorious and adding INR 2.20 Lakhs in prize money along with 12 bounties on his way. He railed out Amit Jangir aka ‘Newcomer’ in heads-up who secured INR 1.31 Lakhs for ending in the runner-up position.

Vaibhav Sharma aka ‘alienrobot’ (4th), Sandeep Varma aka ‘effuno’ (5th), Anuj Laddhad aka ‘anuj1610’ (6th), Aniket Pradhan aka ‘Sandystorm’ (11th), Karan Radia aka ‘Reg_Slayer’ (13th), Sahil Mahboobani aka ‘ImHighIshove’ (21st), Pranay Chawla aka ‘setmeup’ (23rd) were among a few notable players to cash.

Sixth Sense

The flagship event on PokerStars’ Tuesday schedule was Sixth Sense INR 6 Lakhs GTD that crossed its guarantee to become INR 6.37 Lakhs after gathering 255 entries. Online reg ‘Wabi-$abi’ topped the field as the players struck a heads-up deal which saw ‘modi chai wala’ in the runner-up position. ‘Wabi-$abi’ pocketed INR 1.07 Lakhs while the latter managed to walk home with INR 92,945.

StackUp Turbo

9stacks’ featured tournament StackUp Turbo INR 1 Lakh GTD garnered 98 entries after each one chipped in INR 1,100. An intense 4+ hours of grinding saw ‘donkeyking’ outlasting Anuj Manocha aka ‘Desijuari’ in heads-up for INR 27,000 in winner’s prize money. Manocha settled in the runner-up position for INR 19,000.
