Watch: High stakes poker being played with toilet rolls

With the rise of the coronavirus cases and its global explosion, people have been become quite socially active. They have been uploading stories and videos on how they are spending their quarantine days while some are catching up with their friends, family and doing other unique things, one such incident that recently took place where a group of people gathered in a UK pub and played poker using toilet paper rolls!

Certainly, times have changed. Earlier, poker was played using gold nuggets, gold chains and even gold dust. Poker chips were made of ivory bones, coins and wood but now with the novel coronavirus people are using toilet roll instead of coins. This incident took place at Eltham Terrace Club in London.

The players involved in the game were playing high stakes, including cards but toilet paper instead of chips and with the video that went viral one can notice the stacked up pile of papers for baits. This video was shared on Facebook by the club showing five players competing each other in a regular game with a twist.

Suddenly, toilet paper roll has become the top panic-buy item in several countries. Many Australians have been scared right now, becoming the latest group to respond to the coronavirus fears by buying toilet papers. Despite the authorities stressing that there isn’t any shortage, given that most of the nation’s rolls are made locally. However, in Sydney, supermarket shelves have been cleared in a matter of sometime. Event police were called to a dispute a few days ago, saying a knife was pulled out in an argument over toilet paper roll between panic buying shoppers. A similar situation also took place last month in Hong Kong following panic-buying inducing shortage. Retailers in the US and Canada have started limiting the number of toilet paper packs customers can buy in one trip. Some super markets in the UK are sold out.

With over 9 million views where the video was shared, it has also spread across social media sites, leaving public in splits. With major football events closed, fans were seen taking up #10toqueschallenge while staying at home, which involved juggling toilet paper rolls with feet without letting it touch the ground.
