WPT and Partypoker sign 4-year partnership

WPT Enterprises is the creator of the World Poker Tour – the premier name in internationally televised gaming and entertainment, with brand presence in land-based tournaments, television, online and mobile. They are one of the companies to have ignited the global poker boom.

Partypoker on the other hand is an online poker room providing fair gameplay, owned by GVS Holdings PLC – a multinational sports betting and gaming group, the leading e-gaming operator in both B2C and B2B markets. GVC has four main product verticals (sports, Casino, Poker, Bingo).

A collaboration between the WPT and partypoker isn’t anything new. In fact, the two entities have been closely tied for years. Most recently, partypoker served as an online partner for WPT events across Europe, in places like Prague, London and Cyprus.

The WPT and partypoker have joined forces yet again, as the two industry monsters will bring poker players huge live events in Canada and Europe. Their partnership will see prize pools worth up to EUR 3 million and about seven events in the four-year span.

Details of the partnership

The first event of this new partnership is just around the corner, in October this year. Playground Poker Club in Montreal will host a WPT bonanza, the kind the poker world is yet to see. It will include a WPT500 event, a WPTDeepStacks and a WPT Main Tour event, all in one venue during the festival.

Casino Sochi in Russia and Dusk Till Dawn in the U.K. have strong ties to partypoker, and they will also host events of this partnership in 2019. 2018 will see only the Montreal event for which the partypoker partnership will come into play and no will feature no other event. As part of the partypoker end of the bargain, the online giant will qualify 300-plus players to every event for which it teams with WPT. Also, partypoker satellite grinders will be able to use their PP LIVE $$$ to buy in.

Duthie said he’s “pleased” to be working closely with the WPT. Collaborating with the WPT on these additional events across Canada and Europe will allow us to continue to provide players with the tournaments they want across the globe.”
