WSOP 2018 Schedule Announced

The 2018 World Series of Poker (WSOP) has just announced its schedule for the season – the 49th annual World Series of Poker, with the first one hosted back in 1970 (won by Johnny Moss). The WSOP is the world’s most prestigious poker tournament series, and people from all over the world flock to Las Vegas for this event each year.

The 2018 WSOP will be contested between 29th May and 17th July 2018, running for close to 2 months. The first bracelet event will take place on 30th May 2018, and a total of 78 bracelet events will be featured in the tournament. All the action will take place once again at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino, Las Vegas.

This year’s schedule has quite a few changes, with the major attraction being the return of the $1,000,000 buy-in Big One for One Drop, which comes back to the WSOP after a break of 4 years. This will be the last event of the series, starting on 15th July. There is an addition of many other new events, including:

  • $10,000 No-Limit Hold’em Super Turbo Bounty
  • $100,000 No-Limit High Roller
  • $1,000 Double Stack No-Limit Hold’em
  • $365 THE PLO GIANT
  • $1,500 PLO Bounty
  • $565 WSOP.com Online PLO 6-Handed
  • The Closer – $1,500 No-Limit Hold’em (1M GTD)
  • $50,000 No-Limit Hold’em High Roller

Let’s now talk about the WSOP 2018 Main Event – an event that every poker player in the world dreams of winning. The $10,000 Main Event will begin on 2nd July and will run till 14th July, after which the Big One for One Drop will wrap up the series. The Main Event was won by Scott Blumstein last year, winning a massive amount of $8,150,000.

While Blumstein had a great run in that tournament, the 2017 WSOP was also a memorable one for Indian players. Aditya Sushant & Nipun Java gave India its first WSOP bracelets, winning the tag team event; Java won another bracelet in the same series. Sushant is a regular player in the Indian circuit, while Java moved abroad years back, choosing to play regularly in and around Los Angeles.

We feel very good about the multitude of offerings on the 2018 World Series of Poker schedule and look forward to welcoming everyone to the Rio in Las Vegas this summer,” said Jack Effel, WSOP Tournament Director.

Expect thousands of players to have their eyes on the 2018 WSOP and the Main Event in particular. The doors of the Rio will open on 29th May for live registrations, and if you want to know the schedule of events, click here.
