WSOP 2019: 4 Indians progress to Day 3 of Event #34

Over the last couple of days, we’ve had two starting flights to Event #34: $1,000 Double Stack No-Limit Hold’em, and over 2,000 players returned today to play Day 2. The first flight saw Vinod Megalmani headlining the Indian progress while the second flight saw Yasheel Doddanavar ending as chip leader.

Day 2 of the tournament turned out to be a hard grind and once done, the original Indian contingent of 17 players reduced to just 4 while the overall field narrowed down to the last 361 runners. Among them are a number of past bracelet winners and world pros, while Yasheel Doddanavar and Ashish Ahuja headline the Indian charge.

Shortly after India beat Pakistan in the 2019 ICC World Cup, Team India is doing well at WSOP 2019 as well, with Doddanavar holding a massive stack of 1,412,000 chips and Ahuja right behind him with 1,181,000 chips. The other two to progress include 2017 bracelet winner Aditya Sushant (846k) and Vinod Megalmani (668k).

It was a brilliant day for Ahuja who chipped up from a stack of 50k after the starting flight, which was much below the average stack. As for Doddanavar, he was the chip leader on the second flight and just continued to ride the advantage, finishing in the top 20 stacks after Day 2.

Of course, they were plenty of other Indians who busted during the day. 933 players are being paid and the Indians to cash among them were Kartik Ved (907th for $1,499), Gokul Parvathaneni (890th for $1,499), Dhaval Mudgal (723rd for $1,690), and Madhav Gupta (716th for $1,690).
