WSOP 2020: Jonathan Dokler Wins First Bracelet of 2020!

And the first official World Series of Poker (WSOP) Gold Bracelet event of the year 2020 kicked off yesterday on WSOP.com to host 31 events before the action begins on rapid growing GGpoker. At last, the much awaited prestigious and grandest poker festival pulled in the crowd of players residing in New Jersey and Nevada.

Not in Rio All-Suites but cards and chips were in the air in online poker room for Event #1: $500 No-Limit Hold’em Kickoff at 3 pm and the wait was officially over! The registration was open until 6:45 pm and garnered 1,715 entries generating a prize pool of $771,750. The bubble boy of the event was Darren “darrenelias” Elias who was knocked out by Shawn ‘SayGoodNight’ Daniels. Elias left empty handed in 294th place while the remaining players locked up a minimum payday of $771. After which second in India’s all time money list Nipun ‘javatini’ Java stood at 12th place only to bust out soon. Indian origin Soheb “TommyConway6” Porbandarwala also went out securing a min-cash. Gaming lawyer Mac “mverstandig” VerStandig who recently closed the Mike Postle gambling case hit the rail in 196th place. The big mouth, Mike “Mouth123” Matusow was also silenced by Ryan “Toosick” Tosoc in 44th place for $2.6K.

History would have been created on the first day of WSOP Online itself, Phil “Lumestackin” Hellmuth’s quest for 16th bracelet will now have to wait, losing a flip for his tournament life. Surely, it was goodnight for Daniels who raised to 200K under the gun with Ah Ks and Hellmuth 3-bet all in for 2.16 million with Qc Qd. Unfortunately, the flop came Kd 6h 8s giving a lead to Daniels. Both turn and river 7s 5h failed to save “Poker Brat” who exited the table in 11th place for $7,871.

Giving way to 9-handed table was “jwdh91”. Taylor “ZeroTo100” Von Kriegenbergh followed next. An interval of 15 mins saw the elimination of Mark “NostraDonkus” Liedtke in 8th place, “djp1006” in 7th place, “ChefShap” in 6th place and Michael “DDSpade“ Balan in 5th position. It was Tony “Panoramic” Dunst who ended up in the 3rd position to give way to heads-up between Jonathan “Art.Vandelay” Dokler (19 million chips) and Turner (6 million chips).

Jonathan – 4h 4s

Turner – 10s 6s

The flop opened 4d 5s 6c which gave Dokler a gutshot. With the appearance of 2h on the turn, Dokler completed straight and 5d completed the board sending Turner out in the second place. And there it is, the first 2020 WSOP bracelet owner Dokler who grabbed $130,425 for his victory! According to Hendon, Dokler’s total live earning was $105K, almost all of which was 2020 WPT Borgata Winter Poker Open.
