WSOPE: Jagdeep Singh progresses from Day 1 of Event #11 PLO

At 4 pm King’s Casino hosted Day 1 of Event #11 Pot-Limit Omaha for the 2019 World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE). The initial flight being lit with several known players, each hoping to grab the prestigious gold bracelet which comes in with grand prize money.

Initially, only 16 players took the seat but after few levels of late registration, the total field enhanced to 271 entries, each chipping in €2,200 buy-in. The event crushed last year’s record of 100 entries and eventually, the guaranteed prize pool of €200,000 doubled up to more than €520,000 to be shared among the top finishers. Germany’s Anton Morgenstern amassed the largest stack of 726,000 chips followed by Leonid Yanovsky with 461,000 chips.

Morgenstern lost his first chance in the 5th level and re-entered the tournament to become the chip leader of Day 1. Yesterday’s event was a hit owing to several notable players in contention leading to Day 2 including the 2018 WSOPE PLO 8-Max bracelet winner Anson Tsang with 294,000 chips, recent Event #2: PLO winner Dash Dudley with 224,000 chips, 6-times bracelet winner Daniel Negreanu with 108,000 chips, Indian participant and PLO specialist Jagdeep Singh (picture below) collected 61,000 chips and by the end of the day managed to increase his stack to 101,000. He’s below the average chip stack and will have to chip up early on Day 2.

Other known names who gave a shot but couldn’t progress to Day 2 include Indian player Nitin Jain, Shaun Deeb, yesterday’s Platinum High Roller champion Kahle Burns, 6-time bracelet winner Jeff Lisandro followed by another 6-time bracelet winner Chris Fergurson and so on.

  9. Aaron Duczak     – 365,000
  10. Naor Slobodskoy – 321,000
