WSOPE: James Chen triumphs Event #4 Super High Roller

by Team Gutshot Posted on 19 Oct, 2019

A lot has been said about the James Chen, and it was only yesterday in the 2019 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Europe tying the second bracelet to the Taiwanese poker pro who outlasted a field of 30 in the €250,000 Super High Roller, the most expensive event of the entire series.

Hosted at King’s Casino, the tournament attracted a total number of 30 entries including the 8 re-entries and the top 5 players walked out with a portion of the €7.12 million prize pool. Chen came close to the gold bracelet in Las Vegas but eventually settled for a runner-up position against Stephen Chidwick.

With total live earnings of over $7.33 million, Chen earned his career-best live cash of €2.84 million yesterday. Taking over Taiwan’s All-Time money list, he brought his hard-earned first gold bracelet to his country.

Throughout the final day, the lead changed several times and the fierce battle brought Chen against Chin Wei Lim in heads-up where both struggled for two hours. The former dominated the final hand of the tournament with a massive chip lead and eventually, Chen made two pairs of aces and fours to secure the pot and the title along with an enormous sum of €2,844,215.
