Did You Know These Differences In Dummy Rummy & Pool 101 Rummy?

Like poker, there are so many variations of rummy that it’s easy to mix up the rules of one with another. While Indian Rummy is the most popular, variations like Deals and Pools Rummy are also played. In this article, we’re going to help you differentiate between Dummy Rummy and Pools 101 Rummy. Both these variations are well-known and while they have almost similar rules, let’s see what sets them apart from each other.

Dummy Rummy

This game is usually played in a group of two or four players. Here, the objective of the game is to complete twelve pre-determined meld sets and to get rid of as many cards as you can. When a player manages to get rid of all their cards, then the remaining cards will have penalty points. The winner is the player who can complete all the twelve hands and has the fewest penalty points.

Pool 101 Rummy

This game is usually played in a group of two or six players. In Pool 101 Rummy, the objective of the game is to arrange all the 13 cards in their hand as sequences and/or sets. In order to finish playing, players need to declare at least two sequences out of which one must be a pure sequence. In Poll 101 rummy, players are eliminated from the table once their score reaches 101 points, hence the name.

The two games have very different gameplay. Another notable difference are the wild cards in these games. While the function of the wild cards are the same, in Dummy Rummy the wild cards are twos and the jokers while in 101 Rummy it’s the aces and jokers.
